Bolts shutdown the Birds potent passing game

The Chargers put the brakes on the Cardinals potent passing attack last Saturday, holding them to just 6 points and causing two int’s in the red zone while Quentin Jammer shutdown another end zone pass knocking the ball out of Boldin’s hands.

Our defense got it’s first sack of the season from Jyles Tucker.

Rivers continues to play well even under extreme pressure.  He got sacked 4 times without giving up the ball once.

Our O-line played pretty bad.  Specifically, Clary and Vasquez.   LT and Sproles were not able to get much going on the ground getting stuffed right at the line of scrimmage on most running plays but made a few catches out of the backfield including one by Sprolesy for a 36 yard gain.  LT had 2 catches for 18 yards.

Nanee had a 49 yard grab from Rivers to start the game but, they weren’t able to turn it into points.  He later caught a TD pass from Volek.  Chambers finally woke up with a 30 yard catch.  Malcom Floyd had a couple of nice catches also.

Kaeding kicked a 56 yard field goal, final score SD 17-6.

I’m not too worried about the lack of sacks by our defense but I am a bit concerned about our offensive line giving up 5 sacks.

The Bolts travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons Saturday at 5pm PST.  Hopefully, we’ll see some improvement in those areas and continue to show strength in the passing game and defensive secondary.

  1. Rivers continues to play well

I see Rivers as one of the most under-rated players in the practice/mock drafts I’ve looked at.
