Just about everything went right for the Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium this Sunday. Rivers threw for 268 yards and 3 touchdowns. LT rushed for 71 yards, his most in a game this season. The defense had 4 sacks of Cassel along with 3 INT’s and Jacob Hester blocked a punt in the 4th quarter which he promptly scooped up in the end zone for a TD.
Although we came away with an important division win, not everything we did went right.
We still have problems with the offense stalling in the red zone. On two occasions with the ball inside the 5 yard line we were unable to punch it in and had to settle for a Kaeding FG. Norv seemed to be on a mission to give LT the ball to run it in for a score which he wasn’t able to do after at least 7 tries.
But the Lightning Bug, Darren Sproles made a nice catch and run for 58 yards and a TD midway thru the 3rd quarter. That kid is good for at least one touchdown a game.
Fittingly, next up is the Raiders on Halloween weekend this Sunday at Qualcomm. Jamarcus Russell was benched in the 2nd half of their game vs the Jets after another horrendous performance. Their backup QB didn’t do much better in their 38-0 loss in Oakland.
Let’s hope the Bolts don’t look past this game. Every division win is crucial.
