After a 4th quarter comeback win against the NY Giants last week, the Bolts KO the Eagles in San Diego 31-23.
The Chargers scored two TD’s in the 1st half including a 3 yard run by LT and a 20 yard TD pass from Rivers to Mike Tolbert. Meanwhile, our defense held the Eagles to 6 points in the first half stopping them on a drive 1st and a yard to go at the goal line forcing an Akers FG. The Bolts D came up big stopping the Eagles 3x with 1st and goal to go inside the 10 yard line today.
The Bolts added two more TD’s in the 3rd quarter including a 20 yard run from TD and a 20 yard catch in the back of the end zone to a wide open Legadu Naanee.
But, the Eagles didn’t go down easy. Akers put up 2 more FG’s in the 2nd half and Donovan McNabb threw two TD passes in the 4th quarter to get them within 5 points (28-23). Kaeding added another FG and Cromartie caught a game ending INT in San Diego’s end zone to close it out.
Amazingly, McNabb threw for 450 yards. But stalling near the goal line 3x is ultimately what cost them the game.
Thank you San Diego Charger goal line defense!
We went into this game knowing the Redskins had KO’d the Broncos. This was a huge win for SD. The team came out aggressive on offense and by the end of the 3rd quarter had a 28-9 lead.
There was a pretty big turnout of Eagle fans in SD. I would say probably the biggest for an opposing team so far this year. They weren’t unruly at all and although disappointed, seemed to handle the loss pretty well.
The 6-3 Chargers travel to Denver (6-3) next week to battle for sole possession of the AFC West lead.
